Atlanta Symphony

kids at concert collageFriday night, we took the kids to hear the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Callaway Gardens. It was a very special event for us.

In 2009, Tony took me on a date to this very event. It was a very special night where Tony realized how much he loved me, and I knew we would be married. He almost proposed to me that night. Now, in 2013, we enjoyed it as a family!

The kids already have a love for music, and they really enjoyed the concert! Tibi danced by himself to the music and Dorina danced with Mommy. They sat and listed intently to all of the songs.

pictures the kids tookWe bought a pair of binoculars before we went and they had fun looking at the musicians and instruments. We also had given them an old camera (or camya as Tibi calls it) to use. They had a blast taking pictures and they are quite good at it! They imitate Daddy and his photography very well, including making you pose just right (stand here, scoot over there, put your hand here, and smile please).  The photos on the right were taken by Photographers Tibi and Dorina!

We had a picnic before the concert of some of Daddy’s delicious food. It was a beautiful evening! We had such a fun time! Many people commented on how sweet our children are. We are so proud of them and thank God every day!

kids at callawayWe also had a chance to see some of Callaway Gardens.  Dorina was not as scared of the butterflies this time and one even landed on her foot!  She had fun taking pictures of the butterflies and flowers.  We also toured the Horticultural Center and they enjoyed the plants and flowers there.

First Doctor Visit

kids at doctorThe children had their first appointment with the doctor. God did an awesome job!

When we were in Hungary, we discovered that the children were afraid of a lot of things and one of them was a doctor. When we would talk about taking Dorina to the doctor to have her earrings removed, she threw a huge kicking and screaming fit. So we started talking about how God would be with them

Several weeks ago the children started to learn scriptures verses. The first one was “Trust in The Lord with all your heart.” We talked about how we could trust God in everything and how He is with us and takes care of us. They learned to trust Him through thunderstorms, noisy toilets, bugs, spiders, helping them with lessons, helping them find missing things, and helping them obey. We talked about the doctor often and how God would take care of them.

We made the first appointment when Mommy was off of work. The day before, the office called and it was rescheduled it with a different doctor. Then it was on a day Mommy was working so they rescheduled it again.. Then they rescheduled it again with a different doctor. I write all of this to say that God had His hand on choosing their doctor and the nurse who worked with them.

We had prayed about where to go. the adoption agency had recommended an Adoption clinic in Bham but we felt led to go somewhere else. We went to Dothan Pediatrics and saw Dr. Barron and the nurse working with him that day was Cindy. She had worked with several adoptive families before and was so kind and helpful! She was able to help us decipher the kids shot records from Hungary which had not been written properly by the doctor we saw in Hungary to get the kids reports for the US Embassy. Dr. Barron was so kind and patient and gentle. He understood the kids fears and helped us make the right decisions. We are so grateful.

The kids did wonderfully. It was a very long morning for the kids but they left thanking God for Dr. Barron. Dorina had said before we went that she did not like boy doctors, but as we were leaving the office, she said, Dr. Barron is sweet. Now I don’t like girl doctors, just boys.” That was amazing since she got 5 shots to finish her immunization a and get her current. She and Tibi was so brave and so good! They kept praying the whole time and trusting God and God was with them!

We are so proud of them and so grateful for how God is teaching them and caring for them!

Dorina’s Birthday!

Dorina's bday

We had a wonderful time celebrating Dorina’s 7th birthday!  She had a princess cake and got to choose her favorite foods – chicken nuggets, broccoli, and Daddy’s home aid mac and cheese.

Dorina's presentsGrandma got to come to the party and Nonnie and Papa sent Dorina a gift in the mail.  Dorina felt very special on her day and enjoyed helping pick everything out and decorate.

Mommy and Daddy got her a Karaoke machine with a microphone because she loves to sing so much!  She loved it and wanted to sing right away!  Her favorite songs are her “Jesus Music” songs on her cd.  She was shy at first and Tibi asked if he could sing with her.  He jumped right in and started singing and she soon joined him.  It was precious!  While they sang “Jesus Loves Me,”  they both closed their eyes and bowed their heads.  They love Jesus and they love to sing about Him.  We know that His heart was full that day and so was ours!  We are so blessed!

Living and Learning

cute feed turtlesOur children are learning English so quickly. We want to capture all of their cute phrases and accents as they grow. Here are a few of their newest phrases.

“There she goes” – this is used frequently for whatever. ” What is this” – The children say this when they don’t understand something in English or they want more information about something. “Nope” is the new word for no.

One of my favorites recently is “Sing Rosetta to the King of Kings” – this is from the song Sing Hosanna. They didn’t understand the words and thought it said Rosetta.
When Tibi is helping clear the table, he will ask us if the fork goes in the “sink washer or the dish washer”- the sink washer is his word for sink.

“Ready to wash my hi” – hi means hair and “Ready for Shayampoo.” If anyone or anything falls, Tibi says “One fell off and bumped his head.”

They are working hard on writing their numbers and letters and knowing the letter sounds. They are doing so good and we thank God daily for their desire to learn and their hard work. However, we did discover that the statistics are proving right and they are forgetting almost all of their Hungarian. We are doing our best to play Hungarian songs and review Hungarian words for them. We do want them to know both languages but it is difficult since we do not speak Hungarian. We are also using Google.Translate to help them remember. A few weeks ago, it seemed that the kids were just stressed. When we discovered that they were forgetting their Hungarian, Daddy pulled up some Hungarian videos for them. It seemed to make them feel better. We remember how stressed we felt after weeks of hearing Hungarian and how refreshing it was for us to spend time with the Chun’s and speak English again. We thank God for showing us ways to help our children each day!

Each day is a learning experience for all of us but we find great joy in it! We thank God for making us a forever family! We enjoy the simplest things as long as we are together! There is so much love in our family and we pray that it is always this way! We are proud parents of two beautiful souls! Our children are beautiful inside and out and we thank God for that daily!
