Our First Christmas

christmas cardwhisperingWe had the best Christmas ever this year!  The kids started asking about Christmas just after Thanksgiving.  We started our celebration off by decorating the Christmas tree and the house for Christmas.  The kids were wonderful helpers and enjoyed every minute of it!  Daddy helped with as much as he could before he was off to work on Tibador’s Station.  The kids and I had fun getting everything ready before Daddy came home that day and surprising him!

lightsWe put up our wonderful 7 foot tree and decorated it with the ornaments that we collected over the years.  We had some beautiful new ornaments to add from our time in Hungary and from our first family vacation in Georgia.  Then we put up small trees in each of the kids rooms.

Tibi chose blue and green and gold to decorate his tree.  Dorina chose pink and purple and silver.  Before we left for Hungary, we had cleaned out a storage unit of Daddy’s old things and had found some wonderful ornaments and tree skirts to put on the kids trees.  We listened to Christmas music and decorated!  Then we got pizza and watched a Christmas movie!  I had so much fun watching my favorite Christmas movies with the kids!  Daddy joined us for as many as he could.  The Santa Clause 1,2,3 and Santa Clause is Coming to Town were the kids favorites!

reading night before christmas

We read Christmas stories and of course spent most of the time talking about Baby Jesus and his mother Mary and his adopted father Joseph.  The kids love that story.  On December 6th, we celebrated the Hungarian Mikulas Day – it is the Hungarian version of St Nickolas or Santa Clause.  The children put their boots by the window and the boots are filled with candy.  We didn’t put boots out by the window, but Mikulas found the kids and left them a little bag of treats and a note.  The kids were so excited and still talk about their Mikulas gift.

We have tried to incorporate all of our heritages into our family.  Tony is Italian, Cary is German, and the kids  are Hungarian.  We made waffles and white sauce over the holidays – a German breakfast treat.  We also made peppernuts or Pfeffernusse, a German Christmas cookie.  We made American Christmas sugar cookies too.  Then for New Years, we made Hungarian Honey Cookies!  The kids had so much fun baking and working with Mommy in the kitchen.  Daddy was at Tibador’s during most of the baking – but he was home to enjoy eating the treats with us 🙂

We had so much fun shopping for the kids for Christmas.  We kept it simple but wonderful!  The kids each made a list of three things that they wanted for Christmas and we chose one of those items to give them as their big gift.  We also picked up some wonderful small things and some things to fill their stockings.

Dorina got a beautiful pink star necklace and Tibi got a Tow Mater remote control truck.  They also got books and their very own readable Bibles!  They loved every minute of it and so did we!

God is Faithful

We are busy getting things done to leave for Hungary in less than 2 weeks!  Wow!  We are getting so close!  We have our plane tickets and are making preparations.  We will be changing planes in Germany!  It will be a long day of traveling but we will have a day to rest before we meet our Hungarian Agent who will take us to meet our son and daughter!  Is it possible for the days to drag by and fly by at the same time?!

We have been praying and trusting “God to provide all of our needs according to His glorious riches” and He is faithful.  We were told about Pathways for Little Feet and called them this week.  Robin, the lady on the phone was so sweet and helpful!  She was able to get us an answer in just 4 days!  Pathways is able to help us get some of the money that we need to wire to Hungary!  We do not have all of it yet but we are very close!  We are watching to see what else God will do!  God is so good and we are so thankful!  We know that God will show us the way and provide for us!  God is greater than our need!  God is greater than our worries!

our familyHere is something special we got for Christmas!  A sweet friend from church, made us special ornaments to depict each member of our family.  She is a careful listener and did an awesome job!  We put them in a shadow box so that we can hang them on the wall!  This is our lovely family!

Travel Date

Dorina Tibor bearsWe received an email yesterday that we can book our tickets!  Yay!!  We have immigration approval and our travel date!!  Yay!!!  It is only a few short weeks until we leave to meet our children! We can’t believe we are so close to meeting them!!!  We thank God daily for all that He has done on this journey!

We ask for your prayers and support.  We have found out that the return plane tickets will be more than we had anticipated.  The grant and loan applications that we have filled out have not given us any word about receiving funds from them and we are now down to the wire – literally   We have to wire $18,000 to Hungary before we leave.  We also have to pay for airline tickets for us within the next few days.  We have to have the money to live in Hungary for a number of weeks and money to bring the kids home on the plane!  We are asking for your help!  If you can help, please go to our Donate page.  We would be forever grateful and we know that God will surely bless you!

We believe that “God will supply all of our needs according to His glorious riches” and that “He who began a good work…….will complete it.”  We have been blessed by so many wonderful gifts and donations!  We thank you for your prayers and your support!  God moved our journey along faster than we had expected and we know that He has a plan to provide for the journey!  God bless you all and Merry Christmas!

It’s Christmas

tree 2012Christmas ……We can’t believe it is that time already!  This year has been so full…….of paperwork!!  It seems that we haven’t had time to take a breath since we started the application process to Lifeline Children’s Services in May.  Wow!  The amazing thing is……we are just weeks away from traveling to Hungary to meet our children and bring them home!!!

We sat by our beautiful tree last night, drinking hot chocolate and eating chocolate chip cookies (My Tony makes awesome Cocoa and Cookies!) and we talked and dreamed about next month.  If everything goes according to plan we will be meeting our kids in less than 5 weeks!  This has been an amazing journey!  God has blessed us all along the way.  Every time we have a payment due or a fee to pay, God has brought precious people along who have blessed us financially.  Every time we have had a need, God has been right there to provide, just in time!

We were talking last night, about how Jesus was adopted by Joseph.  Joseph raised Jesus as his own son.  And if Jesus had not come to earth as a baby, we would not have been adopted as God’s very own children – His sons and daughters.  We are so blessed to be a part of the miracle of adoption as God’s kids and so blessed that He chose us to adopt these precious children from Hungary.  We look forward to sharing this story and God’s abundant love with our son and daughter.

In a few weeks, the miracle of a family will take place.  God has already placed such love for these children in our hearts.  We have made all of the preparations that we can and have worked so hard to make a special place for them.  It has been a joy to do so.  As we think of that, we pause and think of what joy it gave Father God to send His son to earth for us.  We think of the joy that He takes in preparing things for us.  And we think of how often we forget to be grateful for all that He has done.  As we prepare to be parents and experience such joy and overwhelming emotions, we know that it doesn’t even begin to compare to how much God loves us, His children.  Wow!  Father God, watches us daily, waiting for us to look in His direction and spend a few moments with Him.

manger 2So, as Christmas approaches, don’t forget to pause before your Father in Heaven Who loved you so much, He gave you all He has!  God bless each of you as you celebrate the wonderful miraculous gift of Jesus!!!!!
