A Prayer for my children

Family handsFather, I thank you for blessing our lives with Dorina and Tibi.  Father, I thank you, that before time began, you had planned for us to be a family.  Thank you for all of the little things that you did throughout our lives to prepare us for the moment that we would be a family.  Your timing is so beautiful and so perfect and I thank you!

Father, I thank you for our dear, sweet, precious Dorina!  Thank you for her love of life!  Thank you for the way she bounces into a room and sings with all of her heart to You!  Thank you for the way that she goes full force when she is happy!  Thank you for her joy.  Thank you for the way that she fills a room with joy!  Thank you for her sweet and precious hugs and the way she is such a wonderful helper.  Father thank you for her servant attitude and her joy in serving.  Father, thank you for her leadership and even for her stubbornness.  Thank you that you will use that stubbornness to Your glory!  Father, I ask that you would take her stubbornness and turn it into a beautiful thing.  Help her to be stubborn to follow after you and not be led astray.  Father, help her to always follow hard after you and not be tempted to follow those around her.  Father, ignite a fire in her to always serve You and sing Your praise all of her days.  Father, prepare her to be the leader that you want her to be.  Father, nurture her joy and servants heart.  Father, help us, as her parents to nurture all of the gifts and talents that you have placed within her.  Father give us daily guidance and wisdom to lead and guide her.  Father, give her a pure heart.  Father, keep her eyes and heart fixed on you.  Father, give her peace when things are difficult.  Give her grace to face each situation that comes into her life.  Help us to be patient and lead her in grace and truth.  Father, help us all to always cherish one another and our time together.  Father, surround her with your presence and your love to guide her and guard her all the days of her life.  Father, prepare her for each path that you have for her.  Prepare her to be a teenager – and prepare us for that too!  Prepare her to be a wife and mother someday if that is your will for her.  Father, prepare her for the career that you have for her to follow.  Father, close all the doors that you do not want her to cross and throw open wide, all the doors that you have for her to walk through.  Prepare the path in front of her and guide her to it and along it.  Father, protect her.  Father put in her path the people she needs to be her encouragers and cheer her on.  Help her to always turn to you and to know that she can turn to us.  Father, help her to always know your great love for her.

Father, thank you for our dear, sweet, precious boy, Tibi!  Thank you for his great mind.  Father thank you for the joy that is evident in his life.  Thank you for the way he is grateful for everything.  Father thank you for the way he sacrifices for others and gives of himself and his possessions.  Father, thank you for the way he always has a song in his heart!  Father, thank you for his clever mind and the way he is able to figure things out.  Thank you for his sweet notes and how he cares about how others feel.  Thank you for his sweet hugs and kisses and affection.  Father, prepare him for each step along the path that you have for him.  Father help him to always love you and follow you.  Father, thank you for the way that He adores you now!  Father, teach him to follow only You and to be a light in the darkness.  Help him to seek you and to share your love with the world.  Father, teach him to focus on You no matter what is going on around him.  Father, give him a pure heart.  Prepare him for the career that you have for him and keep his foot on the path that you have for him.  Swing open wide the doors that you have him to walk through and close the doors that he is not to pass through.  Give him wisdom to know the difference.  Father, prepare him to be a teenager and to make pure and holy choices as he seek You – and prepare us to lead and guide him through his teenage years and all of his years.  Father, prepare him to be a husband and a father, if that is your will.  Father, teach him to be a faithful friend, but one who seeks to follow you.  Father, give him discernment and help him to desire to make right choices.  Father, help him to always be full of love and joy and give him peace and comfort for the hard times.  Father, give him all the love and affection he needs from You and surround him with faithful friends.  Father, protect him.  Give him the encouragement and love that he needs each day.  Father, give us wisdom and discernment to lead and to guide him along the way each day.

Father, thank you for all the wonderful and amazing things that you are doing and that you will do through our precious children.  Father, give us wisdom each day as we guide and mold our children to be like You.  Father – father us all.  Help us to lean all of ourselves on You and trust You to make us into the people that you have for us to be.  Father, help us to come to You daily to fill us and help us to be Your light in this world!  We love you Lord!

Fall Update

tibador sign edit

We have had so many things going on that I have not had time to update our blog.  So here is a little update.

Tib-A-Dor’s Station is coming along and will be opening very soon!  We are all very proud of Daddy!  Visit http://tib-a-dorsstation.com/ or facebook at https://www.facebook.com/tibadors for more information.  The kids love going to visit Daddy at the restaurant!

The kids are doing great in school!  Dorina and Tibi continue to make A’s and B’s.  Tibi is now reading every thing, and I mean every thing that has words on it!  We go down the road and he reads the signs.  We go to the store, and he reads the labels.  He reads what I write and he reads any book that he can.  He sits in his soccer chair and reads away.  We are so proud!  Dorina reads but her favorite thing to do is to teach – just like her Mommy used to do when she was a girl.  Dorina teaches her dolls, her stuffed animals, and her brother as often as he will let her.  She would teach our cats if they would sit still long enough!  She reads to her class and we get the impression she talks to them just like her teacher talks to her!  It is so cute!  Apparently Dorina’s teacher screams in her head!  We are so proud of her.

Thanksgiving collagethanksgiving collage 2Thanksgiving was a wonderful day for us!  Daddy was busy at the restaurant most of the week so Mommy took over some of the cooking.  With alot of prayer, God’s divine intervention, and the kids help – Mommy made some things for Thanksgiving and no one was hurt! 🙂  The kids and I made pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes.  It came out very good actually and we had a blast making it together!  This is the stuff memories are made of!
Grandma came over for lunch too.
We watched Charlie Brown’s Thanksgivings free lunch as a family and then we all took a nap!  It was so nice to spend time together.  I read several books to the kids during the week about Thanksgiving.  We talked about how a pilgrim is someone who travels a long distance for a better life and the kids thought that was so neat because they were pilgrims too!  We made lists of things we were thankful for and the kids had fun making Thanksgiving name tags for the table.  The kids also enjoyed making special things for Mommy and Daddy at school.  We have so much to be thankful for and we spent time thanking God all day!

dorina thankful

This has been such a wonderful year full of making dreams come true for all of us!  Daddy and Mommy are so blessed by Dorina and Tibi.  Our lives have been forever changed and we are blessed beyond words.  Every day is a joy with Dorina and Tibi!  They are so sweet and full of love and joy!  They have taught us so much!  Thank you Father God for designing us to be a family from the beginning of time!

Kids say the cutest things

heart wordsIt is so much fun to listen to our children learn English.  They have learned so much and we want to record the special things that they say as they learn English.

We were talking about making Turtle Brownies and Daddy said he made the Brownies without the pecans.  Dorina said “I don’t want peacocks in my brownies!”

Dorina and Tibi were excited about the upcoming Labor Day.  They kept saying we were having a holiday.  Tibi said “Yay tomorrow is Christmas!”  No Tibi not yet (they are so excited about own first Christmas together).  We went out for breakfast on Labor Day and Tibi said “Yay!  We are going to McDonalds for our Holiday Party!”

Today we were talking about Christmas in America and Tibi said, “I know Dingle Bells….. Dingle Bells…… Dingle Dingle Bells (sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)!”

words 2

Tibi has picked up the habit of saying “shoot” when something goes wrong.  It is so cute the way he says it.  He also says “daggone traffic” or “daggone junk mail”.  Wonder where he heard that phrase???

Dorina said “There is a red bump on your belly.  But it is not on your belly butt.”
We still get a kick out of them when they say “I have a probob.”  Which means they have a problem.

We are so proud of all that they have learned and the huge vocabulary that they have.   Their sentences are very complex and they hold an intelligent conversation with everyone – and I do mean everyone who will listen and answer 🙂  They love to learn!  Today Tibi was writing sentences all by himself.  They both spell and sound out many words by themselves now.  We are constantly amazed!  It is such a joy to watch our children learn every day!  They have so much joy in even the simple things!  We have much to learn from our sweet children!  Thank You Father God for each new day!  Help us all to find joy in the simple things!

First Days of School

schoolSchool has begun!  Wow!  This has been quite a year already!  I started teaching 2nd grade again after 7 years as a 3rd grade teacher.  And for the first time – we are parents of 1st graders!  What a wonderful change!  We always dreamed of this and are so grateful every day for our amazing children!

We were just thinking yesterday about the first week that we met our children – they didn’t know any English, they could only write a few letters in their names, they ran around and pouted like toddlers.  Today, they walk triumphantly to their places in the hallway for 1st grade every day.  This week, they both completed math fact work, spelling work, reading passages, and writing all by themselves.  We are so proud of them and we stand in awe of God every day as we watch how He blesses our children and helps them to grow!

We have had some wonderful compliments about our children this week.  Someone said they are the happiest children in school!  They love school and they get excited about every aspect of it!  They try very hard and are truly grateful to go to school and to learn.  They love their teachers and look forward to school each day.  Dorina hops out of bed every morning and can’t wait to get to school.  Their teachers have told us that they are working very hard and are learning very quickly.  Their English vocabulary is amazing!  The adjustments that they have made in the last few months are astounding.  They are polite and helpful at school too.  We couldn’t be more proud of our precious children.  We have had a wonderful first two weeks of school!

It is a new experience for us to get up so early and travel to school together each morning – but what a joy to go to school all together.  Daddy packs our lunches, fixes our breakfast, and has dinner ready for us when we get home!  Daddy is amazing!  Thank you Daddy for taking such good care of us!  The kids are great little helpers when I get to school in the morning and after school.  They help Mommy get her classroom ready for the next day.  We work on homework and study sight words and spelling.  It is a very busy day and sometimes long but we enjoy being a family.

We can hardly believe that just 7 months ago – we met the children for the first time.  It feels like we have always been a family.  There is so much love and joy in our home!  Our children are so helpful and kind.  We love to read God’s word together and pray together as a family after dinner.  Our children are praying for all of the children who are in the process of being adopted or who need a family to love them.  Our children pray for those who have been adopted as they transition.  Our children are grateful for all that God has given to them.  We thank God for the love and joy that we feel every day.  Thank you God for a great start to a great year!

Tibi’s Birthday!

We can’t believe that we have been a Forever Family for 6 months now!   We thank God every day for our family!  Every day is a new adventure and filled with so much joy!  We have been so blessed to celebrate all four of our birthdays together this year!  Each one has been very special and filled with wonderful memories!

tibi and partyTibi had been waiting in expectation of his birthday for months.  I think from the day after Dorina’s party 🙂  He talked about it on a regular basis.  We asked each of the children to pick 3 gifts that they would like for their birthday, and then we choose one to give them.  We let him pick a cake theme – which changed on a regular basis!  We have been showing the children Disney movies – as Daddy and Mommy have always been big Disney fans!  When we tell the kids that we love them, I started saying “I love you to infinity and beyond.”  We explained to the kids where that phrase came from and we purchased the movie to show them.  So when we were looking at cake ideas, we saw Toy Story and Tibi said he wanted a Toy Story cake and to watch the movie for his birthday!  What a great idea!

tibi candlesTibi went with Daddy on the morning of his birthday so Mommy and Dorina could get everything ready for him.  We got the cake, cleaned, and set everything up.  Tibi had wanted flowers – our sweet little boy  – so we picked some flowers from the front yard and made up a sweet little arrangement for him.  We got him a Mickey Mouse balloon and had everything ready for him.

Tibi was so excited all day long and talked about his birthday!  He told everyone!  When he got home, we made him close his eyes and walked him into the dining room.  When he opened his eyes he said “Ohhhhhh.”   He was so happy with everything.  We opened presents first.  Dorina had used her own money to buy Tibi a special present from the Dollar Tree.   tibi guitarThe children are so sweet and loving toward each other!  We are so proud of them.   He opened Dorina’s gift first and was very happy.  She had picked out a little store register drawer with play money in it.  Then it was time for his big present.  He was pretty sure he knew what it was and he was right.  He wanted a guitar and we got him a kid size guitar.  He was so excited!  I also purchased a beginners guitar book for him with a CD and DVD and I am planning to teach myself and Tibi how to play guitar.  I have always wanted to learn too.  We are both very excited.  Dorina wants Tibi to play for her so she can sing.  We are such a musical family!  We all love to sing praises to Jesus!!!!

After presents it was time to dig into the beautiful cake!  Tibi was so excited!  He had so much fun eating it and he was very happy about the toys that he would get off the top of the cake.  It was so cute to watch him blow out the Number Six candle.  It took many tries and was so much fun!

DSCN4521

DSCN4524We sat down to watch Toy Story after cake.  The kids both really enjoyed it.  In fact, Tibi literally sat on the edge of his seat for the entire movie.  I tried to get him to set back on the couch with me, but he was riveted to the movie!  He had his Toy Story characters from the cake in his hands and would do the same movements with them as the movie.  He giggled and was intense on the movie!  It was so special!

tibi goulashThe last item of the party was the one Daddy had been working on for weeks.  Tibi had requested a traditional Hungarian meal for his birthday – Gulyás (Goulash).   Daddy had researched, asked a friend of ours who lives in Hungary, and spent hours looking over recipes.  Tibi had requested that it not be as spicy as it had been when he ate it in Hungary.  Tibi also wanted bread and butter with it so he could dip the bread in his soup.  Daddy did a wonderful job!  It was delicious and Tibi was so happy!  Tibi said it tasted just like Hungary but without the spicy.  Good job Daddy!  It was a wonderful meal!

tibi with flowersTibi said he had a wonderful birthday!  We thank God that we have been able to celebrate both of their birthdays this year with them!  We are so proud of them!  They are amazing children!  They are ready and excited about going to school in August!  They have learned so much!  People can’t believe how good their English is and we get compliments on their behavior all of the time!  Our favorite time is still devotions and prayer time.  We sit at the table now right after supper.  We read the Bible together, recite verses, and have family prayer time.  It is the most wonderful and special time of all!  We start with worship, then we ask God for our requests, we ask for His forgiveness and tell Him how much we love Him.  Then we pause and listen to His voice.  We are always amazed at what the children share that God is telling them.  It is so sweet and insightful!  At the end, we spend time in thankfulness to God.  God has given our children such sweet and tender spirits!  We are forever grateful for our Forever Family!!!!

A Week of Firsts

We went on our first family vacation!  This vacation was filled with things that the kids had never done and things we had never done as a family!  It was so much fun!!!

We went to Savannah, Georgia.  We filled the kids bags with lots of fun things to do in the car and filled the back of the Santa Fa full to the top of stuff and set out on our way!  We had a lovely room at the Oglathorpe Inn and Suites.  It had lots of room for us and a really good price!  We are blessed!  The staff was so nice in helping us get set up with extra blankets and sheets too!

first trolleyThe next morning, we ate breakfast in the lovely atrium at the hotel and set off to catch the Old Town Trolley!  The kids were so excited about it!  We had a blast.  We got off the trolley to eat lunch and then to get some Gelatooooh!  When it started to get hot, we went back to the car and back to the hotel for swimming!

DSCN4214Our kids have become water babies!  They love to swim and get braver and better every time they get in the water!  Dorina got so brave, she was jumping in and swimming in the shallow end without her floaties!  It was so great!  She is really get good.  She also dives down to the bottom to retrieve a little sinking squid toy we got for them.  Tibi made great progress.  He is a great swimmer with his floaties.  He is still gaining confidence in going under the water, but he does do it now and he “hopped” in a few times too.  His hop is truly a hop and he barely gets water on his face 🙂  They have made such wonderful progress in the three different times we have been at pools.

The next day we were off again to the Trolley.  This time we planned to get off several times and also to eat our lunch in the famous Forsythe Park.  We had fun getting off, taking pictures, and seeing the sites.  It was a warm day, but we had fun.  One fun thing we did this day was suggested by a girl at Publix.  We rode the free ferry boat to Hutchinson Island and checked out the Big Hotel and Spa there.  Tibi loved the boat ride!  On the way back across the boat made two stops!  It was even air conditioned!  It was a great fun free activity!  Thanks God!  Publix is daddy’s favorite store!

DSCN4125We had the greatest meals while we were there!  We ate at The Lunchbox with Chef Tony Rosetta!!!!  Tony brought a little grill and a plastic bowl.  He is a master chef, because from these items, he was able to make hamburger steak with gravy and baked potatoes.  He also made ravioli with sauce and salad.  One night he made Tortellini and sauce.  He also made pork chops and mashed potatoes for one meal!  Talk about the Macgyver of the kitchen – that’s Daddy!  It was delicious!

DSCN4160The next day we met some dear friends of ours.  We met them a few years ago on a cruise and they adopted us as their kids.  They supported our adoption and where so excited to meet the children!  We had lunch with them and the children loved them!  Then we went to play some games and ride the go carts!  The kids really enjoyed the go carts.  We wanted to do miniture golf but it was just too hot when we were there.  It was a great time of fellowship!

Dad and kids TybeeWe also made a visit to Tybee Island while we were there.  We went in the morning and saw the lighthouse, but it was too hot to climb it.  We also went over to the beach.  This was the first time the kids had seen the ocean!  They loved the shells scattered along the beach and they started hunting for good ones right away.  Then we went to the water!  They loved it!  They are Mommy’s kids!  Mommy loves the beach!  horseshoe crabWe got to see a horseshoe crab while we were walking along the beach.  Tibi was intrigued.  After a walk along the beach, we rinsed off our feet and headed for lunch!  Pizza!  Gelato!

It was a warm afternoon so we headed to the hotel for a while.  Around 4PM,  we suited up, grabbed a good sandwich, and went to the pier on Tybee Island.  That is when we realized just how much the kids liked the ocean!  It was a perfect evening with a breeze and clouds and even a rainbow!!!  The kids loved the waves, the sand, and the surf!  We had to drag them out after it was dark!  But we plan on going back real soon!

DSCN4313On our way home, we stopped at Macon, GA.  We were tired and needed some rest and had a few stops to make there.  We wanted to stay in Savannah a few more days, but the hotel was booked.  But we found a treasure near Macon!  The Museum of Aviation in Warner Robbins.  It was amazing and the kids loved it!  They got to interact with planes, controls, buttons, and gadgets!  It was a blast and it was free!!!!  Tibi loves planes.  The kids were intrigued by all of the history of America that we found there!  It was awesome!  These are our kids –  we love history and museums!  Father God is amazing!

First Father’s Day

IMG_0118Mommy and the kids spent a lot of time planning for Daddy’s very special first Father’s Day celebration.  I spent time researching ideas and praying about just what to do to make it a very special day for Daddy!

First, I took one of the pictures Daddy first took of the kids after we got home, and sent it to be made into a key chain for him.  Daddy is an amazing photographer and we are so proud of his pictures. The kids told Daddy, that by having the key chain picture, even when they are in school, he will have them with him!

Daddy's cheeseNext, I found a way to use Daddy’s favorite food – CHEESE- to make a special surprise.  I found a picture of dress shirts made out of cheese!!  We used cheese, crackers, pimento, mustard, and pepperoni, to make dress shirts!  We even put them in a little box with paper!   Then we used the olives, pimentos,  and cheese to make the Italian Flag and Hungarian Flag.   The kids had fun making them and Daddy thought they were so special!!!  They were tasty too!

Father's Day lunchThen came the big surprise – we planned and cooked some of Daddy’s favorite foods for lunch!  Now this is huge, because Mommy doesn’t cook very often!!!  So the kids and I went on a special trip to the store and purchased all of the items we needed to make – Angus steak burgers with pimento cheese, steak fries, and broccoli/cauliflower.  The kids really enjoyed helping to make each item for dinner.  They also helped come up with ideas to decorate the table.  We added candles and special dishes for that extra special dining experience!

IMG_0163When Daddy came home for lunch and opened the door, the kids said, “Welcome to La Rosetta.  May we take your shoes?”  Daddy smiled and felt like a King!  We had a wonderful time!  Daddy said it was the best Father’s Day ever!  We are so glad because we know he is the best Daddy ever!!!!

Creative Lessons

We have had a lot of fun learning this summer.  Our family motto is “Make Every Day a Memory!”  So we spend time each day doing something special together.  That something special may be as simple as tickle time – but we make an effort to connect, bond, and love each other every day.

One of our favorite things is after meal time hugs and laps.  After the kids finish eating, they come and sit in our laps.  We talk, laugh, tickle, hug, and make that time special.  We pray that as the children grow up and even get to be teens, our after dinner talks, hugs, and laughs will always be a part of our family routine.

IMG_0025

The kids needed some work on vocabulary and on some math skills, so we came up with some creative play to learn.  The first day, we set up a store.  We used empty containers and boxes and some of their toys.

IMG_0038

We put little green stickers on each item for prices.  We used different dollar and cent amounts and then gave them some play money.  They did not know the names of the coins yet so Mommy was the cashier and helped them learn coin names and counting with coins.  They had a blast!  They enjoyed learning to count money and buying fun items.  We played for hours and they learned most of the names of the coins and the amount that each coin is worth.

IMG_0041IMG_0036

They had to recognize the cost of the item by number recognition and then whether it was dollars or cents by the sign.  We had so much fun!  This was something that I played in my kindergarten class when I was little and I have always remembered it!

Astronaut collageThe kids did not know anything about space or the moon.  So we set up a day that we became astronauts!  We read a book about an astronaut and his trip to the moon.  Then a few days later, we suited up and went on a moon walk!  The kids had so much fun!  We talked about the spaceship, the rockets, gravity, and so much vocabulary.  We used their beds for the space shuttle and blasted off – we practiced counting backwards.  Then we went down the stairs and collected moon rocks.  I had them put weights on the moon rocks – we counted by 10s and 5s.  When we got finished collecting moon rocks, we collect specimens.  I had placed their phonics cards all over the room.  They had to find a card, write the word for the card (with my help) in their scientific astronaut notebooks.  They had so much fun!  We even used the jet packs to collect the specimens and one of the kids floated away and I had to rescue Tibi!  Then Tibi had to rescue Dorina!  We used pretend walkie talkies to communicate and even made the skeee noises!  We also took a break from our mission and had a moon snack – “Moon Pie

We read “A Pocket for Corduroy” one day and then practiced sewing large buttons on canvas.  The kids really enjoyed that too.  We practice writing our names, address, phone numbers, and they have started spelling a few small words.  They still love to sing and that is a daily activity.  Tibi makes up songs all day long about scriptures, numbers, and whatever it is he is doing at the time.  He may be a song writer someday!  The kids love to sing to Jesus and do it all day long!  They also enjoy creative play and are so cute when they play!  They really enjoy imitating every thing that Mommy and Daddy do – that keeps us on our toes!  :-)s!”  The kids had a blast!!!!

IMG_0136We have had fun reading books, riding bikes, playing Frisbee and many other things.  It has been a wonderful time!  The kids have learned many more scripture verses and pray for every one and every thing.  They listen to hear what God is telling them and are so sweet and loving!  We are so proud and so blessed!  We thank God for each day!

Let the Summer Fun Begin…

first photo of kidsOne year ago today, we started this blog to chronicle our journey to be “A Forever Family.” God has blessed us beyond our dreams. This is the first photo that we saw of our kids back in the fall of last year. Last year was a flurry of activity to get ready to meet our children and bring them home. What a wonderful journey it has been!

We just talking about it today, how much the children have grown and how much they know since January 14 of this year! They have such amazing vocabulary already and have conversations with adults who would never guess that our the kids’ first language was Hungarian and not English. They have learned so much in such a short time! We are so proud of them! Daddy has been a very good teacher at home school! The children are able to write their numbers to 50 with some help. This week they have been reading rhyming words by sounding them out. I have always been a firm believer in Phonics, but I have seen it proved true in my own children! They read the book “Andy” by Tomi De Paola. I helped them a little, but they read the rhyming words by themselves!!!! They are able to spell words if we make the sounds for them. They are on the verge of spelling.

bikes

This week, we went to church conference in Mobile. While Daddy went to his meetings, the kids and I hung out at the pool. Tibi, by the way, sounded out “pool” all by himself and read his first word that first day. Anyway, back to the pool. Tibi was very timid when he first stepped foot in the pool. We got them both arm floaties, so we let them walk in by themselves. Dorina walked right in but Tibi was still afraid of the water. The first day, they didn’t put their heads under the water, but their confidence grew as they realized they could go all over the pool with their floaties and still be safe. We played with a beach ball, played tag, and swam all around. The second day, they both were much braver. Dorina even put her head under the water and started jumping in to me. Then she asked to take her floaties off. I kept her in the 3 foot area, but she did wonderful! She even jumped in and swam to Daddy and Mommy with her face in the water! Tibi kept his floaties on but he did do some jumping in and he put his face under the water at least once! We had such a wonderful time swimming together and playing! The kids didn’t want to get out of the water! We have water babies now!!!
Our children have learned so much English and we are so proud! It is still cute when they make little errors in their speech. Here are some of our newest sayings…..Tibi was talking about our family and he said, “I like aus.” He meant I like all of us!

bikes 2

“It’s blinking, but I am ok, ” Tibi said. He meant it was bleeding. He also asked us “Do you have a probbob?” He was playing doctor and wanted to know if we had a problem for him to treat.

One day I was talking about someone lying down and Dorina said, “Number 9, Do not lie!” That is number nine of the ten commandments. I had to explain to them that lying down and telling a lie are not the same.

We are so proud of how much the kids love God and how many scriptures they have learned. Today, the kids wrote special love notes to Jesus and put them in a plastic heart that they have. It was so so sweet! They pray every night for all of the people that they know who are in need and especially for children who are being adopted from Hungary (and their families). They pray for Mommy and Daddy and all of their family too. They thank God for so many things and pray about everything! They are great teachers for their Mommy and Daddy about faith! They are learning the 23rd Psalm, I Cor 13 and they already know the 10 commandments and several other verses. They frequently recite their verses throughout the day. They also know so many “Jesus songs” as they call them. They really enjoy the “Bullfrogs and Butterflies” series and the “Psalty Kid’s Praise” series. I have enjoyed teaching them the songs of my childhood. When we hear the children singing their hearts to Jesus in praise and worship, it brings tears of joy to our eyes and smiles to our faces! God has blessed us so much! So many people have said to us that “the kids are so blessed to have you.” But the truth is, we are the ones who are blessed to have them in our lives! They are so full of love and happiness and joy! They have taught us about God’s love!

new familyThank you Father God for our beautiful family! Thank you for blessing us with these beautiful children! Thank you for giving us so much love and joy in our family! We worship you and praise you for all that you have done, all that you are doing, and all that you have in store for us!!!!

First Mother’s Day

Mother's day breakfast

I have waited so many years to celebrate this day! I thank God for the title of Mommy! That morning, the children took me to breakfast 🙂 We had fun. I gave Tibi some money and we went to Hardees. Dorina and Tibi ordered for me and paid for it. They thought it was fun to take Mommy to breakfast! Tibi even remembered to order coffee for Mommy! It was precious.

Mothers day giftThey gave me a beautiful necklace – two actually! Daddy ordered a cross from Lifeline for the kids to give to me and he also ordered a beautiful mother’s necklace! I really wanted one and this one is beautiful!!!! It has a stone for all three of my children on it! There is one for Makayla, Dorina, and Tibi!

Every day is mother’s day when I hear those precious words, “I love you Mommy!”

The children are learning and growing so much every day! I am amazed at how much they have learned. They know almost all of the phonics cards we have been working on and make almost all of the sounds correctly now. We are working on a few sounds but they know all of the sounds of the alphabet and are starting to work on blends. They can spell simple words when we sound them out and we are working on reading rhyming words. They can count to 100 with a little help (after 30, they need some help on the tens). They use longer sentences and are actually using compound sentences now and pronouns! Dorina has been reading a rhyming book every day.

DSCN4022We have been doing role play to help learn how to act in social situations. They enjoy role play time. Sometimes we act it out and sometimes we use Barbie Dolls. They have learned so much through role play.

DSCN4028Here are some of their newest and cutest sayings – carrot card (credit card) and take off the beep beep beep – the bar code sticker. Tibi likes to use the camya (camera) and Dorina likes to do the puzzool (puzzle). Whenever something seems sad or hard, Tibi says “It’ll be alright.” If you ask them to do something they may say, “Alrighty.” If something happens in the morning, “Dorina did it in the good morning.” And the most frequently heard phrase from Dorina is “all kinds of stuff.”

Here is our goodnight chorus! – I love you. – I love you more. – I love you most. – I love you to the moon and back. – I love you to infinity and beyond!
